Green Day ........Some Day......

I have been pushed into the genre of punk rock or...alternative rock as they say... last weekend.
Ok, what I mean is that I heard my 2nd son singing "One, 21 guns"... hmmm, so I had the video downloaded to my cellphone. Here goes, some parts of the lyrics:

Do you know what's worth fighting for,

When it's not worth dying for?
Does it take your breath away
And you feel yourself suffocating?
Does the pain weigh out the pride?
And you look for a place to hide?
Did someone break your heart inside?
You're in ruins

One, 21 guns
Lay down your arms
Give up the fight
One, 21 guns
Throw up your arms into the sky,
You and I

^^^ Wow, for a 10-year-old but does he really know what all that means... i wonder. For this new wave group, Green Day, it was said that the majority of their songs are composed of the over-driven guitar, fast, manic drums, and relatively high-treble bass. And... only this generation can relate to their kind of music. Well, er, okay, after a while i thought it was not bad, but I may just slide back to the 70's and 80's era - my retro world. Give me Quincy Jones, Kool and the Gang, Beatles, The Eagles... anytime!

Here comes Friday ...

I feel glad today. It's Friday.

I don't care if Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has said that the second Singapore F1 race will be a great one. There are other great events happening elsewhere this weekend.

One is a friend who is getting married; another friend had great sales over a book he has written; my nephew and niece are receiving their first Holy Communion!

Well, most importantly, I get to do my 3.5km run tomorrow! Hope the weather will be good because it rained last Saturday. Health.... here I come!!

Savour ..... my very own, simple Crabstick Nigiri Sushi

Crabstick Nigiri Sushi

Ingredients:

  • Nori
  • Japanese Cucumber, cut in strips - length wise
  • Crab stick, cut in strips – length wise
  • Dried Gourd
  • Rice mixed with Japanese sushi vinegar

How to do:
  1. Position the nori seaweed sheets on top of a bamboo mat and place the sushi rice on the seaweed.
  2. Place one strip of cucumber, one crab stick, and dried gourd in the centre and roll to form sushi.
  3. Roll up the bamboo mat, pressing forward to shape the sushi into a cylinder. Press the bamboo mat firmly and remove it from the sushi.
  4. Cut the rolled sushi into bite sized pieces
  5. Serve with soy sauce and wasabi.... and enjoy!!

Can I do it...?

I started brisk walking again, finally. It's been like two months since I stopped exercising. Like they say, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. I took to baking instead for the past two months. Haha, filled the family with choc cakes, muffins, cupcakes, cookies, tarts and everything nice. Now, it is back to walking... and I hope i can do it.. as in continuing my exercising routine once again. Wish me luck...

Today, and everyday ...

Be happy in the moment - that's enough.
Each moment is all we need - not more.

- Mother Teresa

I hope I can appreciate every moment I have, but with so many things to do,hmmm ... I wonder if it's possible. Maybe sometimes, we all need to stop for a moment and reflect...
